Rice and the Indians in United States

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. Once upon a time we can get Buy 1 Get 1 Free of Basmati Rice ($10 lbs @ $6.99) for $13.99 (its called the tilda)… Now Its priced at $32 or more…

If I remember proper it was 3 months back, the same loyal space for buying grocery the subzi mandi, Patel Cash & Carry (New Jersey), people are grabbing so much of rice bags and the next day the entire subzi mandi doesn’t even have hardly any rice bags, 2 days after that, the price of the rice bag (20 lbs) is almost doubled.

Then they had plenty of bags and people are grabbing as much as they can, and every 1 week after that they jagged up the prices, the reason was the crude oil price was soaring (around $110) and some weird reason, if i remember proper, Indonesia was saying they are going to stop exporting because they are in demand I think it was their storm season.

Today, The crude oil price was ($62 and going low)… our subzi mandi and patel thought of dropping the price by $2. If i compare the price in India, these folks are making a profit of more than 300% with the dollar value soaring against the Indian Rupees. In normal days itself they make more than 80% of profit… these sort problems are like the Jackpot for these folks

The only way these folks can learn the lesson is by people boycotting to buy rice for certain time and remind them that we are the demand, I sincerely don’t understand, so much people in US and especially in NJ work their toll off and how could they cannot think about they get ripped off and paying double the price and getting multiple bags. I took a stand that I’m not willing to pay the price for the rice for the speculation buddies who has no freaking clue what rice is all about….

The most funny part was this, The costco in the vicinity (Edison) known of the demand and brought some quality Basmati Rice and these (subzi, patel folks) send their family dabit (this is on purpose!) cards to buy the entire stock out and jag up the price by a $1 or $2 and they are still selling it… Costco is now selling some low quality Deer brand Basmati and I don’t think its a real Basmati itself… and they are restricting 2 bags / household… lol…

Today, All the rice exporting countries are not saying they are banning their export levels, dollar is gaining power in world market but why does the greed of these folks are not stopping?

You really don’t have to protest, you just need to stop buying in bulk when they raise the price up… Lucky us, they are not using Rice for Ethanol…. otherwise price of the rice for 10 lbs. would be $330…

$700 Billion Bailout?

I really don’t understand few things:

1. Wall St. is the one of the most brilliants land and when it makes money and on its peak, Is there any single benefit to the tax payer?

2. Is there is a single entity in this entire Wall St. ever stepped up to share the profits for a main st. cause?

3. Scaring people that as if the entire country is going to go down is really not scary. Its just the housing market, may be the dollar value to an extend and ofcourse lot of greed and stupid banks and investment companies.

4. Whats wrong if these banks fail? People will have fewer to choose. People can live with it

5. Bottom Line: What about the ordinary man?

Simply, why should the taxpayer money to be used now to bailout these brilliant greeds? Do they deserve this?
